Indy is a program that lets you search a database of magazine articles and then it shows you the results pictorially.

In this unbundled version of the Indy program, you have to scan the images from your magazines and you have to build the magazine database. In the other versions of the Indy program we have done that for you - for a select number of magazines. (When you buy one of the other versions of the Indy program you get the ability to create your own indices as well.)

Unfortunately, we can not offer bundled versions of our Indy program for all of the magazines that have ever been published. We are trying but we will never get them all. This unbundled version of the Indy program lets you index the magazines that you have that we have not already indexed.

Simple, textual-only magazine indices only help with the first half of the article selection problem, the searching part. The Indy program does more. It searches and it displays what the search matches look like. So you can see what a particular article item looks like before you go through all of your magazines to find the article!

Please note that Indy shows you the first page of the article that matches the text that you were searching for, not the entire article.

If you enjoy your magazines and want to maximize your usage of the excellent articles that are in them, you can make better use of your old issues if you are able to have the article images closer at hand. If this makes sense to you and you would like to see Indy in action, take a look at the Indy Program Examples. These examples illustrate what we have done for the WOOD magazine but they are representative of what you could do in your own index.

Note: You may not resell the indices that you create with our Indy program to others. You may only create them for your personal use.

The Indy for Personal Use program is identical to the Indy programs that are supplied with the other editions. It works on the same computers and operating systems and has the same memory and processor speed requirements. Take a look at the system requirements that are listed for any of those editions to know what you need for the Personal Use edition.
